the birds the bees the flowers and the seeds is an exploration of the relationship between desire and violence, the strictly cultivated west and the strategies war has for it’s own evolution. in this work, poppy pods look like grenades, bullets look like seeds, an ammo case a planter, wire cutters resemble garden snips. the evolution of flowers and of war elides. details of a larger interactive installation are offered here to suggest that garden space functions as an allegory for the privileged space of the U.S., but also as an exploration of how state wars and gardens are similar.
