Download a spreadsheet application like Excel, Numbers or Open Office if you don't have one already.

Develop a data set you are interested in working with:

maybe you want to track how much compost you create each day, your carbon footprint, or how often you need to water your plants.... Whatever data set you choose to work with, it should be meaningful to you and relate in some way to your daily life.
Aim for a minimum of 1-2 weeks of data. For Wednesday bring in the data you have collected, stored in a spreadsheet (ideally 1 week)

If you want to look at an already existing data set -- consider the following resources (you probably want to use something that's stored as a CSV file):
• NOAA
• National Phenology Network see:the download data page (note: you may need to set up an account with nature's notebook to access this data).
• DataSF
• data.gov
