Mar 02::
Before Class:
Read:
- Basic Concepts Of Electricity
- How voltage, current, and resistance relate
- Series and Parallel
- Color codes of resistors
Do:
- more on the serial monitor note 2/27: whoops! don't worry about doing this tutorial:: if you've already done it, please submit for extra credit
- push buttons buttons are in the "toggle on/off" drawer...
- make an rgb fader
- give this a try if you can: a for loop with leds
Take a photo or video of these working on your breadboard, zip up and label Hw5_lastname_firstname.zip. Email.
Before the end of Mar 04:
- Write out a conceptual painting. Following in the tradition of conceptual artists like Sol Lewitt write a recipe or instruction based artwork in natural language, develop a set of instructions for a dynamic abstract painting. Review Sol LeWitt's retrospective at MASSMoca (you can click on the thumbnails to see the instructionals), as well as Casey Reas' exploration of his work in Software Structures. Keep in mind that you will be passing this recipe on to a fellow classmate who will turn the instructions into Processing code.... The assignment will be graded based on its formulaic presentation in relationship to the code environment and algorithmic structures. Label file A1a_lastname_firstname.filetype; due before midnight on Mar 04.
In class:
Discuss:
- resistance continued, series and parallel
Studio time:
- multimeters
- resistor exercise (visit this site)
- piezos -- download the following: fade tone, pitches, three tones, also possible tone pitch follower
- motors
- soldering
