At the invitation of Elia Vargas, I contributed to an exquisite corpse collaborative writing project with 52 other artists, while under quarantine this spring. Exquisite corpse is a writing and/or drawing exercise developed by the surrealists to bypass the conscious, rationalist mind in creating work. Each contributor can only see the writing by an author immediately preceding their own. Vargas complicated this process by beginning the writing in the middle, so for my contribution, the writing I was given came after me in linear sequence, but did not necessarily have to come after me in the temporality of the text.
